Kurt Krukenberg
President
Kurt joined HSSV in 2020 after previously serving as Chair of the Board of Directors. He is thrilled to lead a talented and passionate team that is saving lives, keeping families together, and creating a better future for pets and their people. Prior to HSSV, Kurt spent two decades helping companies create sustainable growth. As an executive coach, he worked with business and nonprofit leaders to design effective organizations, build high-performing teams, and develop their own leadership skills. As a management consultant, Kurt led engagements for Fortune 500 clients in media, technology, healthcare, and life sciences. He also has operating experience in marketing, sales, and product development at industry-leading technology companies. Kurt received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rice University. Kurt is eternally grateful to have been rescued by his wife Charu and their four-legged family.
Jaime Allen
Vice President, Community Programs
Jaime joined HSSV in 2005 and currently leads our Keeping Families Together initiative which focuses on increasing equality in access to veterinary care and essential pet services. Over the years, she has served in various areas within HSSV, from Volunteer Programs and Adoptions to Humane Education and Veterinary Services. Before joining HSSV, Jaime drove the development of service-learning youth programs in both academic institutions and private youth organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Art History from Santa Clara University, complemented by a teaching credential from San Jose State University. Her 13 year old pitbull, Minky, continues to amaze and inspire her.
Dan Coleman
Chief Development Officer
As a lifelong animal lover, Dan is excited to lead the efforts to fuel HSSV’s important and impactful mission. He joined HSSV in 2023 with over 10 years of experience in philanthropy including executive leadership roles at the San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and The Cleveland Orchestra. While most of his career has been dedicated to arts & culture organizations, he also has served in for-profit Philanthropy Tech, LGBTQ+, higher education, and government organizations. Dan has presented at national conferences on a range of fundraising topics and has served as Guest Faculty for the League of American Orchestra’s Essentials of Orchestral Management Seminar. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and volunteers his time as a board member of the Bluecoats, Inc. based in Canton, Ohio. Dan and his husband Alvaro enjoy lots of fun times living with their adopted dogs, Spock and Seven of Nine.
Farideh Eshagh
Vice President, Finance
Farideh joined HSSV in 2023 after her love for animals set her eyes on the organization. She brings to the organization over 20 years of executive leadership experience in diverse non-profit and fast paced, high technology companies throughout Silicon Valley. Prior to joining HSSV, she spearheaded the financial strategies at a non-profit global organization focused on women technologists which partnered with leading academic institutions and Fortune 500 companies. Her strategic operational leadership skills and collaborative management style have resulted in success throughout her career. Farideh earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from San Jose State University. She resides in San Jose where her home is filled with wagging tails including her two dogs.
Lisa Feder
Senior Director, Veterinary Services
Lisa joined HSSV in June of 2023, after working in a consulting role with our medical team. She has over 25 years of experience in non-profit leadership at shelters around the country, primarily in operations and medical roles, and is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA). As a passionate advocate for the power of people, pets, and data collection, Lisa closely follows evolving trends in sheltering and veterinary medicine and is excited to be a part of HSSV’s Keeping Families Together initiative. Lisa shares her home with two cats and an anxious chihuahua-papillon mix.
Joanne Jacobs
Chief of Operations
Joanne joined HSSV in 2016. Previously, she held various executive positions in P&L management, product management, marketing, operations and IT at Intuit and other high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. She began her career at GE and GE Capital in the engineering leadership program and moved on to senior leadership roles in sales, sourcing, and business process management. Joanne holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Davis, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from Santa Clara University. A lifelong animal lover, she lives in Los Altos and enjoys spending time with her golden retrievers Scout and Oliver.
Kristen Jahnke
Vice President, Operations
Kristen joined HSSV in 2016, and transitioned to the animal welfare world in 2005 from the social service nonprofit sector. Dedicated to making a positive impact on animal lives, she oversees various departments, including Community Services, Behavior, Rescue, Foster, Animal Care, Training, and Adoptions. Kristen, with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Marquette University, combines education with hands-on experience to address shelter-related issues. She shares her expertise through presentations on shelter-related topics, contributing to the advancement of animal welfare practices. At home, she lives with a resilient dog with no front legs, a geriatric hamster, and numerous fish.
Dr. Cristie Kamiya
Chief of Shelter Medicine
Dr. Kamiya joined HSSV in 2012 as Vice President, Medical Operations. For over a year prior to this role, Dr. Kamiya spent Saturdays in HSSV’s surgery suite as a contract veterinary surgeon. In 2014, Dr. Kamiya stepped in to the role of Chief of Shelter Medicine, overseeing Shelter and Medical Operations. Prior to HSSV, Dr. Kamiya worked as a shelter veterinarian in humane societies, municipal shelters, and rescues in the Denver-Boulder areas of Colorado, the greater Phoenix metro area of Arizona, and Northern California. In 2013, Dr. Kamiya completed a 3-year intensive residency-training program in shelter medicine from the University of California-Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kamiya is one of just a handful of residency-trained, Shelter Veterinarians in the country. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University. Dr. Kamiya enjoys traveling and volunteering with organizations that provide veterinary support for underserved areas in the U.S. and internationally. In her free time, Dr. Kamiya delights in fostering underage shelter kittens, and spending time outdoors with her adopted shelter dogs.
Yvonne Saucedo
Chief of People
Yvonne joined HSSV as Vice President, Human Resources, Volunteer Programs and Humane Education in 2017 after spending time as a corporate volunteer and supporter. When Yvonne learned about HSSV during a corporate experience event, she knew immediately that this was the place she wanted to support and eventually work. Prior to HSSV, Yvonne held various executive-level Human Resources positions in the high-tech industry. In her 20 years of experience, she primarily focused on Mergers and Acquisitions, Human Resources Operations, Organizational Development, Talent Acquisition and building G&A functions within start-ups. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Francisco State. Yvonne volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors for Warm Winters. She has combined her lifetime support of animals and her love of world travel by continuing to transport and escort rescue animals back to the US from less developed countries to find their forever homes. As appropriately noted by her dear friend, her cats (Clyde and White Paw Kitty) currently share their home with Yvonne.
Nancy Willis
Vice President, Strategic Growth
Nancy relocated from Maui to join HSSV in 2023. In this newly created role, Nancy oversees marketing and works cross-functionally to lead the Changing The Game strategic initiative. Nancy has more than two decades of leadership experience across a range of nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including the Maui Humane Society, Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, and the Major League Baseball Players Association. As a lifelong animal lover, Nancy has always been surrounded with pets. She has fostered many dogs (and a few cats) and she has a soft spot in her heart for senior animals.
