Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. Navigating the final stages of their life can be one of the most emotional challenges a pet parent faces. We are here to support you with compassionate end-of-life services, helping you and your family through this difficult time with care and understanding.
Humane Euthanasia
Deciding when it’s time to say goodbye to a beloved companion animal can feel overwhelming and emotional. Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers compassionate, humane euthanasia services to ensure your pet’s final moments are gentle and dignified.
Pet parents are welcome to be present during the euthanasia process.

Navigating the loss of a pet can be difficult, and Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is here to support you with compassionate after care options.
Cremation Services
Through our partnership with Caring Pet Services of Los Gatos, we offer two cremation options:
- Communal Cremation – Your pet will be cremated with others, and their ashes will be respectfully spread on private property in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
- Private Cremation – For those who prefer an individual memorial, private cremation is available along with custom-made urns to honor your pet’s memory.

Hours & Contact Information
We offer humane euthanasia and cremation services by appointment only. However, we often have same-day appointments available and do our best to accommodate walk-ins when staffing allows. Please email us to make arrangements with our staff for euthanasia or cremation services. You’ll hear back from us within one day of requesting an appointment if you reach out during regular business hours, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily.
When we reach out, we’ll schedule your appointment and address any questions you may have. Each appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes, ensuring a compassionate and unhurried experience for you and your pet.

Pet Loss Support Group
Coping with the loss of a pet or preparing for their final days can be a deeply personal and challenging journey. Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers a Companion Animal Loss Support Group to provide comfort, guidance, and a supportive community for those navigating grief.
Meetings
When: First Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. –7:30 p.m. via video conference. Please RSVP to Vicki at vickioliveriomft@gmail.com, for instructions on how to call in.

This group provides a safe space to express emotions, process grief, and connect with others who understand. Attendees may participate as often as needed and are welcome to return to support others after their own healing journey.
This service is offered at no cost, but donations are appreciated to help provide life-saving care for animals in our shelter.
