Deciding when it’s time to say goodbye to a beloved companion animal can feel overwhelming and emotional. Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers compassionate, humane euthanasia services to ensure your pet’s final moments are gentle and dignified.

Euthanasia services are available by appointment only. Walk-ins are not available.

Pet parents are welcome to be present during the euthanasia process.

If your animal has passed away
If your animal has passed away, HSSV offers cremation services to help you navigate this difficult moment with care and compassion. Walk-in cremation services are available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please bring your animal to our Customer Service lobby, where a member of our team will assist you.
Private cremation services typically take 3–6 weeks for your animal’s ashes to be returned to HSSV. Once they are returned, we will give you a call.
After Care Cremation Services
Losing a pet is never easy, and Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is here to support you through the process with compassionate cremation services. We offer two options through our trusted partner, Caring Pet Services of Los Gatos: private cremation and communal cremation, each handled with the utmost care and respect.
Pet Cremation and Memorial Options
Choosing the right after care option depends on your preferences for memorializing your pet. Whether you’re looking for a private tribute or a shared resting place, we’re here to help you find what feels right.
Pricing for all cremation services is based on your pet’s weight. Services start at $45 for communal cremation, $75 for group cremation with one commemorative paw tile, and $175 for private cremation with one commemorative paw tile.
Communal Cremation:
Your pet will be cremated alongside others, and their ashes will be respectfully scattered on private property in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Ashes are not returned with this option.

Communal Cremation with Commemorative Paw Print Tile:

Private Cremation with Ashes and a Commemorative Paw Print Tile:
Your pet will be cremated individually, with their ashes returned to you in an urn of the your choice and a commemorative paw print tile. This private cremation option offers a personal way to honor and remember your companion.

Hours & Contact Information
We offer humane euthanasia and cremation services with compassion and care.
Euthanasia appointments are required. Same-day appointments are often available, and we do our best to accommodate walk-ins when staffing permits. Each euthanasia appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes, allowing time for a compassionate and unhurried experience. You are welcome to stay with your pet during the procedure at no additional cost, or you may leave them in the care of our supportive team.
Walk-in cremation services are available five days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For pets who have already passed in your care, please visit our Community Services lobby during business hours.
If you contact us during regular business hours, a member of our team will follow up within one business day to help schedule your appointment and answer any questions.
Pet Loss Support Group
Coping with the loss of a pet or preparing for their final days can be a deeply personal and challenging journey. Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) offers a Companion Animal Loss Support Group to provide comfort, guidance, and a supportive community for those navigating grief.
Meetings
When: First Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m. –7:30 p.m.
Location: This service is available via video conference and not on-site.

This group provides a safe space to express emotions, process grief, and connect with others who understand. Attendees may participate as often as needed and are welcome to return to support others after their own healing journey.
Please note: Vicki facilitates the Pet Loss Support Group only and cannot assist with euthanasia services.
