Community Cat Program
Targeted TNR (Trap—Neuter—Return) is the most effective strategy to reduce community cat overpopulation and increase the quality of life for outdoor cats.
May 2025 Update:
We’re continuing to work closely with TNR rescue groups to identify and sterilize entire colonies of community cats. The most successful outcomes—both in stabilizing populations and improving cat health—occur when 80% or more of a colony is altered.
Our TNR appointment request form will be available on the last Thursday of each month. Once we reach capacity, the form will close and reopen the following month. After you submit a request, our team will follow up by text or phone to schedule your appointment.
Right now, we’re prioritizing requests from caretakers in Milpitas and San Jose who are aiming to reach at least 80% sterilization in their colonies within the next two months.
