Our Path Forward

The rebuild is progressing in three phases, beginning with the spaces most urgently needed to support animals, adopters and our teams.

Phase One: Restoring the Dog Adoptions Floor

The first phase restores the fire-damaged dog adoption floor and lobby with new flooring, improved rooms, refreshed finishes, and an updated puppy space. Bringing this area back to life will allow dogs to leave temporary classrooms, create a more welcoming experience for visitors and staff, and mark an important step toward restoring full operating capacity.

Phase Two: Restoring the Medical Center and Laundry Rooms

The second phase rebuilds and modernizes our medical center and back-of-house operations, including HVAC systems, replacing the roof, a third surgical suite, a dental suite, expanded laundry capacity, and a specialized parvo isolation room. Updated equipment and more functional spaces will increase treatment and surgical capacity, strengthen disease control, and expand hands-on veterinary training.

Phase Three: Strengthening HSSV for the Future with New People Spaces

The final phase, moving forward alongside Phase Two, focuses on the people and infrastructure that sustain HSSV’s work. By converting underused areas into more functional staff spaces, and refreshing cat adoptions and training classrooms, this phase will help HSSV operate more effectively and remain resilient for years to come.
