DESCRIPTION:Wouldn’t it be nice for your daily walk to be a relaxing experience rather than a rowdy romp as your dog drags you down the street? Are you confident your dog would come back to you in an emergency? Join us for this 3-week\, in-person class that will focus exclusively on the skills designed to teach your dog to walk politely on a leash and to come when called even in the midst of distractions and temptations. In addition to not pulling\, we will also work on how to get your dog past distractions without losing their mind\, whether they are anxious or just super excited! We will give you the tools to continue this training at home to ensure your pup has great loose-leash skills and reliable recall! This class is not appropriate for leash reactive or aggressive dogs! If your dog is experience leash reactivity\, please email dogtraining@hssv.org for class options. \nClass will run for 3 weekly sessions\, meeting on the same day and time of the week. This class starts on Sunday\, October 5th from 3:15 – 4:05 pm. \nThe last class in this 3-session series will be on October 19th.

DESCRIPTION:Based on Leslie McDevitt’s acclaimed book series of the same name\, Control Unleashed is a training program for students and dogs who are ready to strengthen their communication and connection around distractions. This class is designed to provide proactive training to: \nBuild your dog’s ability to pay attention in distracting environments\nImprove your dog’s ability to manage their arousal levels.\nProactively teach handlers how to keep their dogs from becoming reactive.\nHave dogs learn to make choices and communicate those choices to handlers.\nThis class is a great fit for those planning to participate in dog sports like agility\, but also for any handler of an easily distracted\, impulsive and/or insecure dog. This a positive reinforcement-based training class; food and toy rewards are utilized throughout the course.  No makeup sessions will be offered. \nThis class is held outdoors\, in the dog training yard. In case of inclement weather\, including rain or excessive heat\, class will be postponed. Any skipped class dates will be added to the end of the course\, on the same day and time as the regular class time.  \nClass will run for 6 weekly sessions\, meeting on the same day and time of the week. This class starts on Tuesday\, October 7th from 7:45 – 8:35 pm. \nThe last class in this six-session series will be on November 11th.

DESCRIPTION:If you’ve already completed Recreational Agility 1 & 2\, and would like to continue enjoying agility with your dog\, then this is the course for you! In this course\, you will practice handling skills while running your dogs through fun drills and agility courses each week. This is an ongoing course\, with the opportunity to re-enroll every 6 weeks for the same course as you and your dog improve your agility skills. All sessions of this six-week series will be held in-person at HSSV. This class is for dogs that are able to work in close proximity to other dogs and people (while still maintaining social distance).
