DESCRIPTION:Based on Leslie McDevitt’s acclaimed book series of the same name\, Control Unleashed is a training program for students and dogs who are ready to strengthen their communication and connection around distractions. This class is designed to provide proactive training to: \nBuild your dog’s ability to pay attention in distracting environments\nImprove your dog’s ability to manage their arousal levels.\nProactively teach handlers how to keep their dogs from becoming reactive.\nHave dogs learn to make choices and communicate those choices to handlers.\nThis class is a great fit for those planning to participate in dog sports like agility\, but also for any handler of an easily distracted\, impulsive and/or insecure dog. This a positive reinforcement-based training class; food and toy rewards are utilized throughout the course.  No makeup sessions will be offered. \nThis class is held outdoors\, in the dog training yard. In case of inclement weather\, including rain or excessive heat\, class will be postponed. Any skipped class dates will be added to the end of the course\, on the same day and time as the regular class time.  \nClass will run for 6 weekly sessions\, meeting on the same day and time of the week. DESCRIPTION:Have you already attended one of our 3-Week Puppy Socialization clases\, but your pup is now too old for these classes? Looking to continue your older puppy’s socialization while also learning about the challenges of adolescence? “Puppy Socialization – LEVEL 2 Older Puppies” classes are the answer! In this 3-week course\, your pup will continue to learn to socialize appropriately with other dogs\, while you learn how to keep their attention in distracting environments\, while navigating the challenges of puppy adolescence. Topics will include distraction recalls\, emergency handling\, and increased focus on you instead of passing distractions. \nRequirements: Completion of puppy socialization -or- note from dog professional who has observed the dog in other puppy socials\, doggy day care\, or boarding.Class will run for 3 weekly sessions\, meeting on the same day and time of the week. This class starts on Sunday\, November 16th from 11:00 – 11:50 AM. \nThere will NOT be class held on November 23rd. The last class in this session will be on December 7th.

We can help you have a dog that doesn’t jump on visitors\, bolt out the front door\, or grab things off the holiday table. Join us for our Holiday Manners intensive class! Meeting for two weeks\, in person\, this class will emphasize the important holiday behaviors of Leave it\, Drop it\, Come when called and not jumping on visitors! This class is held outdoors\, in the dog training yard. In case of inclement weather\, including rain or excessive heat\, class may be moved to Zoom or postponed. Any skipped class dates will be added to the end of the course\, on the same day and time as the regular class time. Class will run for 2 weekly sessions\, meeting on the same day and time of the week. This class will meet on Thursday\, 11/13 and 11/20 at 7:30 – 8:20 PM.

DESCRIPTION:The first session of this six-week series will be held online. The remaining five classes will be held in-person at HSSV. Attendance at the Week 1 orientation is mandatory. Please reach out to your trainer if you cannot attend the first class. If you miss this first session without notice\, you may not be allowed to attend the rest of the course. In addition to talking about how dogs learn and addressing common behavior challenges\, we will go over the training methods and equipment that you will need for our onsite sessions\, and the class protocols for the rest of the course. No make-up sessions will be offered. Aside from week 1\, this class is held outdoors\, in the dog training yard.
