We know giving up an animal is a difficult decision, which is why Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) has many programs and resources to help you through the process!
We are currently accepting outgoing, friendly, healthy dogs, puppies and rodents from Santa Clara County for our adoption program. Please complete the questionnaire under Pet Surrender Services to begin the surrender process.
Santa Clara County shelters are currently experiencing a surge in intake of cats and kittens. In order to focus our resources on saving the lives of cats and kittens at risk for euthanasia in local shelters, we are not accepting applications for cat surrender at this time, with the exception of cats or kittens previously adopted from HSSV. Please visit our Re-homing Resources page for tips on how to place your cat without having them come to a shelter. Thank you for your understanding.
Here are some resources to help you keep your pet or find it a new home on your own before you begin the process of surrendering your pet to a shelter.
As a last resort, HSSV offers pet surrender services for cats, dogs, rabbits, and pocket pets from Santa Clara County. Learn more about our surrender programs.
