ANIMAL CRUELTY

Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) has been a Santa Clara County community resource for over 80 years. HSSV is a strong advocate of eliminating the suffering and neglect of all living creatures through our education outreach programs.

HSSV Educators and Volunteers give lectures at Bay Area schools, civic groups, and nonprofits to help educate people on why animals deserve to receive kinder, more compassionate care and how to provide that care.

While, HSSV does not conduct animal cruelty investigations, we help answer the public's questions regarding animal cruelty and we actively refer complaints and instances of animal abuse and neglect to Animal Control agencies in the cities of San Jose, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Campbell, Monte Sereno, Cupertino, Los Gatos, and Saratoga.

You Can Help Animals Like Winston

In August 2004, HSSV cared for 64 dogs and puppies that were confiscated from a San Jose resident who kept the dogs in deplorable living conditions.

Many of the pups like Winston, had communicable diseases, were malnourished and needed long-term care. Our medical teams cared for the pups until they were healthy enough to be placed in foster care where they could receive lots of TLC. Pups like Winston were later adopted into permanent, loving homes.
