We will also begin some sequencing where your dog will learn to do multiple obstacles in a given run, and you will learn the fundamentals to build on with future agility classes. In this rewarding dog-person team sport, you, as a handler, learn how to communicate effectively with your dog and give your dog a fun and creative outlet for its energy.

Beginning Flyball - 1 Year and Older

An introduction to one of the fastest-growing dog sports in the U.S.

Flyball is a relay race for dogs, racing two teams at a time with four dogs each. Each dog must go over 4 hurdles to a spring-loaded box loaded with a tennis ball. He must retrieve the tennis ball then return over the 4 hurdles, back to his handler. As each dog returns over the start/finish line, the next dog goes out for his turn. The first 4-dog team to complete the course without errors wins the heat.

In this six-week course, you and your dog will be introduced to the fundamentals of flyball, including jumping the hurdles and learning to trigger the flyball box. You will also learn handling techniques and ways in which to motivate your dog on the course.

This class is for well-socialized, healthy/athletic and not overweight dogs that have completed an Intermediate Manners & Obedience for Dogs (or the equivalent) or have approval of the class instructor! Dogs must have a reliable off-leash recall and enjoy retrieving a tennis ball!  A recommended prerequisite is our Obedience for Dog Sports class.

Intermediate Flyball (1 Year and Older)

Flyball racing is fast and furious fun for dogs and their people!

Intermediate Flyball will expand upon the skills learned in the Beginning Flyball course. Dogs and handlers will continue working together on the elements of the flyball course, as well as handling skills necessary for racing in flyball.

This class is for dogs that have completed Beginning Flyball (or the equivalent) or have approval of the class instructor!
