Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) hosted their second annual Summer Music & Wine Festival on Sunday, August 1 with resounding success! An estimated crowd of over 3,000 people enjoying a relaxing afternoon with their friends, families and dogs at our new Animal Community Center in Milpitas. Whether it was the people singing and dancing for two hours to free live music from The Joe Sharino Band, the kids and adults who posed for photos with Abbie, the Surfing Dog (a recent star in the movie “Marmaduke”), or the hundreds of people who partook in the wine & beer tasting, snacks, and HSSV discounts as an HSSV “Patron of the Day,” there was something for everyone to enjoy! The public was treated to free dog agility and flyball demonstrations in the outdoor exercise yards and got to try out the “members only” dog parks for the day.  In addition to the multitude of dogs to pet and greet, kids of all ages took part in fun animal-themed arts 'n crafts activities in our Community Room, among the sweet smells of fresh cotton candy. In addition to learning more about HSSV services, such as doggie daycare, grooming, boarding and training, the public also learned about the dangers of leaving a dog in a hot car, thanks to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office. Rounding out the the day was the outstanding news that 19 animals found their “forever homes!”
