Canine Influenza (H3N8)
Protect Your Dog From Canine Influenza
HSSV now offers a vaccine to protect your dog from the new canine influenza virus (H3N8).
While the vaccine WILL NOT prevent a dog from becoming infected, it can reduce the severity of the disease, thereby reducing the length of time that a dog is sick and decrease shedding of the virus, which helps to reduce the transmission of the virus. No side effects have been reported.
If your dog has close contact with other dogs such as in a dog park, grooming or boarding center, you should seriously consider vaccinating your dog.
The initial vaccination is a two shot series given two-four weeks apart, and then once yearly. The canine influenza vaccine is available at our Medical Center at a cost of $25.00. No appointment is necessary. Visit our Medical Center Vaccination Page
