Corporate Volunteers

Is your company looking for a way to get involved in the community? HSSV’s Corporate Volunteer Program provides Silicon Valley employees with a teambuilding experience that makes a difference in the lives of homeless animals. During a corporate volunteer day, employees first receive a shelter tour, then roll up their sleeves to complete a group project, and -- as a reward -- participate in an animal experience with the dogs and/or cats in our shelter! Depending on the season, examples of projects include putting up holiday lights, spring gardening on the HSSV campus, washing out animal carriers to transport our foster pets, and a car wash for HSSV animal transport vehicles. Kelley Ketchmark from Intel created a slideshow illustrating how she and her colleagues recently spent their half-day of volunteering.

“In April, a group of Intel employees got together and spent a couple hours lending a hand to the Humane Society Silicon Valley.  As pet lovers, it was extra-rewarding knowing that the time we gave would in some small way help the animals of the shelter.  The real treat of the afternoon came when we are able to socialize with some of their cats and dogs.  My wife and I now volunteer as dog socializers and are loving every moment of our time that we spend with these animals.”  -- Intel employee Tom Lloyd
