Where does the summer camp program take place?
Amazing Animals Summer Camp takes place at Humane Society Silicon Valley’s (HSSV) Animal Community Center (ACC) located at 901 Ames Ave., Milpitas, CA, 95035.
How many campers are in each session?
There are between 26- 28 campers per session.
What is the staff / camper ratio?
There’s typically 2 staff educators and 8 junior volunteer counselors at camp every day.
How do I register my child for camp, and how much does it cost?
Fill out the online registration form and pay online. The cost is $240.00 per session (Mon – Fri: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.)
May I sign my child up for more than one camp session?
Yes you may! Please keep in mind camp content and activities are similar for each session.
Are there scholarships available for my child?
Yes, we do have scholarships available. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
What form of payment is accepted for camp?
You can submit payment online via credit card/debit card along with your online registration form.
How will I know if my child is accepted into a session?
Once you submit your application and fee online, your child has been accepted into that session. You will also receive a confirmation email with important information on camp policies and activities. If you do not receive the email confirmation within 3 business days, please contact us at 408-262-2133 x137 or email us at email@example.com.
Can my child be wait-listed if the camp session we want is full?
Yes. If a session is full, you won’t be able to sign up online. Email us and ask to have your child wait-listed. You will be notified if a space becomes available.
Can my child be signed up with his/her friend?
Yes, but be sure that everyone sends in his or her applications (and chooses the same session) within the same timeframe. We process applications on a first-come, first-served basis and won’t hold spots for campers without application and payment.
Are children with disabilities welcome to attend camp?
Yes! HSSV’s center and camp program welcome children with special needs. Our camp facility is wheelchair-accessible, and we aim to ensure that all games, crafts, and activities are suitable and modifiable for a range of abilities. If you would like to discuss in detail, please call Jaime Allen, our Camp Director at 408-262-2133 x136. Each situation will be addressed on an individual basis to ensure that we can best meet the needs of your child.
Is there before and after camp care?
No, we don’t offer extended care. You can drop your camper off at 8:45 a.m. and pick him/her up by 1:15 p.m. or you will be charged $1 per child, per minute past time of pick up.
Does HSSV provide snack for my child?
No. Parents are responsible for packing their child’s snack.
What type of animals will my child be exposed to?
Campers will learn about and meet our center animals, as well as animals brought on campus by a qualified presenter. A wide variety of animals visit the program weekly, and may include dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles, amphibians, birds, millipedes, tarantulas, possums, and more! Campers will meet a different type of animal (and sometimes 2 or 3) every day of camp.
May my child bring his/her pet to camp?
No. For the safety of other campers and animals in the building, please refrain from bringing pets to camp, even to drop off or pick up campers. Instead, we will ask your camper to bring in photos of his or her pet during the camp week for a special arts and crafts activity.

What if I need to transfer my child's registration to another camp week?
You may transfer your child's participation into another camp session within the same camp year one time free of charge. Any additional transfer requests will be charged a $10 administrative fee.
What if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel, please contact us at 408-262-2133 x137 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Our refund policy is stated below:
No refunds will be issued 7 days or less prior to the first day of your child’s scheduled camp session.
