Classroom Presentations & Assemblies for PreK – 8th Grade

We want to support the work that you are doing in your classroom with kid-approved, interactive presentations designed for students who want to learn more about animals and how to make a difference in their lives. A certified dog may accompany the presenter, if one is available. Each student will receive a HSSV bookmark and extension worksheet.

Scheduled: Monday - Friday 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Presentation length: 45 minutes, depending on grade

Presentation Title Description
Pet Care 101 ~ pet needs
(Ages: PreK to 4th Grade)

How good are your students at guessing an animal by what items she needs to feel safe, happy, and healthy? In this lesson, students will learn about basic pet needs and compare them to human needs. They will also discover how much it costs to take care of a companion animal for her entire life!

My Dog Said What? ~ animal safety & communication
(ALL AGES)

Did you know that you can tell a lot about what an animal is feeling by watching the way his body moves? In “My Dog Said What?” students will become experts in animal body language and practice strategies for staying safe and being respectful around animals.

All About Animal Careers
(Ages: 6th grade to 8th grade)

Have your students ever wondered what it would be like to work with animals? In this lesson, students will discover the multitude of exciting careers with animals and view some tools of the trade. From animal trainer to veterinarian, students will learn the A to Z of animal careers!

Fee: $75.00 per presentation
Scheduled: The first Tuesday of each month between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Creepy Critters
Ages: 4th grade to 8th grade

Have your students ever wondered what it might feel like to touch a tarantula, hissing cockroach, or millipede? During this lesson, students will learn some fascinating facts about the anatomy, diet, habitats, and misconceptions of these critters. They will also be able to touch and hold some of them!

Reptiles Rock!
Ages: 4th grade to 8th grade

Students will discover the difference between tortoises and turtles, what a Jacobson’s organ does and how we can protect these animals in our community. They will also learn about and touch more amazing animals such as snakes, geckos, and lizards.
