Animal Pals Club

Description: Humane Society Silicon Valley offers exciting hands-on opportunities for children to learn about and often meet different kinds of animals or animal-care experts, tour our shelter and complete a service-learning project to help the animals in our care.
 
For Ages: 8 – 13 years old

Scheduled: One Saturday a month from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
We are limited to a maximum of 20 students per class, so complete a registration form and reserve a space today!

February 13th Community Service Rocks!

There are so many ways to make a difference in the life of a center animal! From putting together kuranda beds and socializing the pets to drawing their portrait, join us while we participate in fun, hands-on service activities that will keep the animals comfortable and relaxed, and might even help get them adopted!

Want to find out how you can help the planet from your own backyard? Come learn about composting, recycling, and nature’s helper: THE WORM! Dell Mass, HSSV rabbit socializer and Master Composter, will teach us how to create fertilizer at home with some help from our wormy friends!

Search & Rescue

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Dogs can be heroes too!  Often times, trained canines are sent to search and rescue those who may be lost or missing after a disaster strikes.  Meet and learn about two of these canine heroes and the wonderful life-saving work that they do!

Join us for a special presentation at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo located at 1300 Senter Road, San Jose, CA 95112! We’ll be learning all about the diets of wild animals, and then we’ll go explore the great adventures in the zoo!

Ever wonder why rabbits thump their feet, or why they do a “binky?” Join us to learn about the wonderful world of rabbits! You’ll even get to meet a few of these furry friends!

Kittens Galore!

10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Do you know how many kittens can be born in one year?  Well, come find out, while getting to meet some of these tiny kittens too!  We will also explore the meaning of Trap, Neuter, & Return (TNR) and what that means for our cat population.
