“Animals are more like us than we think,” said Jane, age 9 and a camper in this year’s “Amazing Animals” Summer Camp. Summer Camp season came to an end on August 6 after more than 120 elementary school students joined us at the center to learn about all of the animals that make our communities amazing. Campers met dogs, cats, rabbits, snakes, tortoises and birds of prey, to name a few. They learned how to draw an animal’s portrait, make pet placemats and healthy dog food, and they even tested their senses against dog and cat senses. The kids (and the 36 teenagers who went through many hours of training to learn how to be awesome camp counselors) had a blast.
